    Omar uproar swamps Pelosi

    Bwhahahahaha!!!

The democrats are now fighting over how to keep both the Muslims and the Jews under their control. If you think this is bad, just wait till the 2020 election season.

    Its gonna be brutal.

If Pelosi comes down too hard on Omar, she risks alienating progressive lawmakers and outside groups that have rallied to the Minnesota Democratís side. If she pulls her punches, Pelosi will anger Jewish lawmakers and groups outraged over Omarís latest remark about pro-Israel advocatesí ďallegiance to a foreign country.Ē

Pelosi seems to be in trouble trying to herd all these out-of-control cats. Whether she can do it or not, I don't know.

She (and the Republicans) have their bases locked down right now. Despite media reports, there just aren't many likely voters who will cross lines for either party but those few who will are peeling off of the Democratic base. She has to appeal to the swing vote.

That's difficult because swing voters aren't motivated in the same way the partisan bases are motivated. The Democrats can't appeal with identity politics and the Republicans can't appeal by simply being against the Democrats.

Most middle-of-the-road Americans are uninterested in Palestinian claims of any kind even if they spend close to zero time admiring Israeli successes in science, commerce, or whatever. They don't care about that but many are vaguely unsettled by outright Jew hatred. Most swing voters have been impacted by the ACA and it's been negative so they aren't happy to hear Democrats calling for the abolition of private insurance. They have the feeling that financing higher ed is a racket (they are right) but they still believe that a college degree work permit is important so the appeal to provide "free" college for their kids is a thing. They as aren't jealous of the wealthy as some in the Democratic base but they pay their "fair share" and wonder where it goes since they see little benefit themselves from previous Democratic efforts.

It's complicated. People are complicated. Neither party really appeals to the swing vote at the moment.

Criticism of Israel, its lobbyists, and its blind supporters in the United States is not anti-Semitism.

They tried to make "fetch" happen and it blew up in their faces.

Nancy can comfort herself with the thought that at least she doesn't have a Steve King in her caucus.

Patriotism is of its nature defensive, both militarily and culturally. Nationalism, on the other hand, is inseparable from the desire for power. The abiding purpose of every nationalist is to secure more power and more prestige, not for himself but for the nation or other unit in which he has chosen to sink his own individuality.
    -George Orwell, Notes on Nationalism

    It didn't.

It may been a big thing on CNN but that's not the trickle down message the average grocery shopper got. They saw or heard about a Muslim representative saying bad stuff about Jews not only in Israel but about Jews in the U.S.

Just as Catholics were once charged with 'dual loyalty' and what amounts to subversion, so this claim is the same thing.

It's blowing up in the face of the Democratic party.

I might agree that one of the few Muslims in Congress, and the only member of Congress who practices the hijab, would cause a certain reaction from the average grocery shopper you associate with.

You gotta separate the termites from the Jews, right?

I agree that the statement from the dem congressman saying you can't criticize Israel was wrong. But criticizing Israel is not all Omar has done. The democrats know it but have to placate her defenders by trying to soften their resolution by broadening it. That's fine. It's a mess for them and they had to come up with something. But I'm betting this won't be the last we see and hear anti-semitism from Omar.
May we raise children who love the unloved things - the dandelion, the worm, the spiderlings.
Children who sense the rose needs the thorn and run into rainswept days the same way they turn towards the sun...
And when they're grown and someone has to speak for those who have no voice,
may they draw upon that wilder bond, those days of tending tender things and be the one.

    Team Pelosi!

Because Omar doesn't even realize she's being anti-semite.

And no, I don't support hateful Republicans putting Omar on a poster saying we forgot 911.
