Iran just made one of its riskiest announcements in years

Iran says it is just days away from breaking its end of a major nuclear deal by stockpiling forbidden amounts of uranium. If it does so, it would be the latest signal that Tehran may put itself on the path toward a nuclear weapon in direct defiance of President Donald Trump.

The 2015 nuclear agreement between Iran, the US, European powers, Russia, and China put tight restrictions on Tehranís nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief. The Obama administrationís goal was to block Iranís path to a nuclear weapon diplomatically, instead of by force.

But Trump withdrew America from the deal last year, reimposed financial penalties on Iran, and asked European countries to cease their business with the country.

That led Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in May to announce that his nation would start stockpiling low-enriched uranium, which can be used for nuclear reactors but not for atomic bombs.

The nuclear accord compels Tehran to keep no more than 300 kilograms ó or about 660 pounds ó of low-enriched uranium and to sell the excess so that it canít even come close to building a nuclear weapon.

But after the US left the agreement, reimposed sanctions, and blocked European nations from dealing with the country, Tehran seemingly felt it was free to regain what it had traded away.

Thatís now clear: Behrouz Kamalvandi, a spokesperson for Iranís Atomic Energy Organization, said Monday that his nation will blow through the imposed limit by June 27 ó only 10 days from now.

Priebus recalled that McGahn said that the President had asked him to "do crazy shit," but he thought McGahn did not tell him the specifics of the President's request because McGahn was trying to protect Priebus from what he did not need to know.

The farce is thinking the failed deal did anything to deter Iran at all.

But blame Trump. Oh and if there is a US military response and this action is a factor will that still be Trump trying to stoke war flames to win the election?

I don't think Trump wants another war in the Middle East, but the National Security Adviser he picked sure as hell does.

And, Trump has made several moves with regard to Iran. He owns this situation. If it were going well, you'd be giving him credit.

As bad as Bolton is, he's got nothing on Tom Cotton (R-AR).

There's some fun bit at the end.

That's strange. So Trump knows what Bolton wants and appointed him anyway - why then?

I do give him credit and I think it is going well. It beats the shit out of pushing for a deal - any deal - and then ignoring the problem.

You can clutch your pearls all you want but if anything Obama's ransom payment provided resources Iran didn't have.

Do you think Iran building up a larger stockpile of low enriched uranium is a good thing?

No. I think it's a good thing that their actions are not hidden by a sham deal and they are being confronted.

What actions were being hidden? Were they increasing their LEU stockpile in 2016?
