Reservations for Taco Bell's hotel sell out in 2 minutes

Wait, what? A hotel? Too much Taco Bell!

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/comp...cid=spartanntp

If you're a Taco Bell superfan looking to stay at the Mexican fast-food chain's limited-time hotel, you're already too late.
All available rooms were snatched up just two minutes into taking reservations. And with that, the Yum Brands unit proved once again how much its customers love the brand.
The chain started taking reservations at 1 p.m. Eastern on Thursday for the roughly 70 rooms at its Palm Springs hotel.

Less than a minute after bookings went live, the website was already overwhelmed by the demand. Some users attempting to book a room received a message saying the website was experiencing "higher than normal traffic" and to "keep your crossed fingers on that refresh button."

"Taco Bell fans are truly one of a kind and today was one of the best expressions of that fandom yet," Taco Bell's Chief Global Brand Officer Marisa Thalberg said in a statement.

Rooms started at $169 per night, with no minimum required stay. The Bell, which is taking over the V Palm Springs Hotel, will open its doors August 8 and close August 12.
Taco Bell anticipated high demand for the hotel. The chain's U.S. president, Julie Felss Masino, said that only one employee from a company-owned store will win a coveted room as part of a customer service contest.
"We're really trying to make it a fan experience," Masino said in an interview last week.

It wouldn't appeal to me but I can see some people really liking the idea.

I have to admit that ice cold, plain crunchy tacos with Fire sauce can really be tasty under certain circumstances.

    A "limited-time hotel" in California?

    Someone should write a song.

"The way I see it, there's always, c'mon, there's always money. It's there." —Elizabeth Warren, explaining socialism.

“The interesting thing about the Green New Deal is it wasn’t originally a climate thing at all.... We really think of it as a how-do-you-change-the-entire-economy thing.” —Saikat Chakrabarti, then AOC's Chief of Staff.

"We have to stop demonizing people and realize the biggest terror threat in this country is white men, most of them radicalized to the right, and we have to start doing something about them." —CNN's Don Lemon, showing how to stop demonizing people.

"What is objectionable, what is dangerous about extremists is not that they are extreme, but that they are intolerant. The evil is not what they say about their cause, but what they say about their opponents.” ―Robert F. Kennedy.

    Mirrors on the ceiling
    The pink champagne on ice
And she said: "We are all just prisoners here
    Of our own device"
    And in the master's chambers
    They gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knives sporks
But they just can't kill the beast

Great. Now I want nachos Bell Grande and a chicken chalupa.

    Also, a chihuahua.

    In Palm Springs?

Remember, a taco only spends a few hours with you. The Chihuahua is a 20 year committment.
I'm thinking that once, in 1953, a group of interesting people just happened to be in a coffee shop at the same time and a great discussion of issues, ideas, and the meaning of life occurred. Since then we have been waiting at Starbucks for Lawrence Ferlinghetti to say something heavy.

Something I always think about when pressured to adopt (buy) shelter dogs. They have innumerable Chihuahuas. Having had a number of fairly large dogs, that they die sooner is heartbreaking.

Having to live in what amounts to a bad marriage for decades is worse (Daisy springs to mind).

The BFF had three apricot Toy Poodles. They were adorable and Satanic.

    No.

The most adorable tiny dog I ever saw gave me a mallet fracture. My finger still isn't quite the same after splinting and PT. The worst a bigger dog ever did to me was knock me down. I was briefly surprised and had to remove leaves from my hair.

I guess one bit my hip when I was a kid but frankly, that was on me.

Not when it's wrapped in a flour tortilla with a couple of packets of hot and mild sauce. And some sour cream and pico; may as well make it supreme.

You are a very, very bad man.

Of course, that's basically the reason chihuahuas were invented by the indigenous people: mobile and savage chickens.

Maybe a rental comes with the room.
