4 People Dead After Brutal Stabbing Spree In Southern California

Four people are dead after a man went on a bizarre stabbing rampage in Orange County, California Wednesday evening. Two more people are reported injured.

Police have arrested a so far unidentified 33-year-old man as a suspect in the stabbing spree that spanned the cities of Garden Grove and neighboring Santa Ana. Garden Grove Police Lt. Carl Whitney characterized the motive as “robbery, anger and hate”.

The Orange County Register reports that they first responded to a call about a robbery at a Garden Grove apartment complex. Soon afterward they were summoned to another robbery at a bakery.

The police were then called back to the apartment complex after reports at 5:04 p.m. of two men who were stabbed, Whitney said. One man was pronounced dead on the balcony of the apartment. The second was found inside and taken to UCI Medical Center, but also died.

Authorities were then notified of another robbery at a check-cashing business at 12845 Harbor Blvd. Police said the man then drove down Harbor Boulevard and robbed an insurance business. A woman who was working inside was seriously injured.

A third robbery took place at the Chevron gas station near Harbor Boulevard and Banner Drive. A man’s nose was nearly severed from his face in the attack.

Both the employee wounded at the insurance business and the motorist injured at the gas station were taken to UCI Medical Center and are expected to survive, Whitney said.

Then, at about 6:15, police spotted the Mercedes a 7-Eleven near Harbor and 1st. A security guard was stabbed there and his gun stolen. He also died.

Santa Ana police officers made contact with man there, and arrested him without incident. He is 33 years old, police said.

Another stabbing had taken place previously at a Subway restaurant across the street. Both the security guard and the restaurant employee died.

The police believe these were random acts of violence and that the suspect had no prior relationship to any of the victims.

The stabbings come on the heels of a horrific week of violence in the United States, with mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton.

California is not without its own problems. With homelessness on the rise, so is crime. In 2018, a Ventura father was eating in a restaurant with his family when he was stabbed in the neck by a homeless man who had wandered into the building. He was holding his 5-year-old daughter when he died.

We obviously need laws requiring background checks and waiting periods before buying machetes since laws against killing 4 people and wounding a few others weren't enough to stop this guy.
Get off the cross, we need the wood.
