Over the weekend former Philadelphia Eagle Torrey Smith tweeted about a coach, his brother-in-law Kyle Williams (pictured above), of the Conshohocken Bears potentially being fined $500 and receiving a two-game suspension because the 65 pounder team beat Roxborough 36-0. Apparently the league the Bears play in has a mercy rule that a team canít win by a score of more than 31-0.

I understand the purpose of the mercy rule. It makes some sense. But it's pretty tough to tell a 5 year old second stringer to stop running. It is also hard to understand why the coach put the second stringers in with only 2 minutes left in the game. They should have been put in far earlier.
