Mostly because you clearly don't have the slightest fucking idea how companies work. Hint: Neither Amazon, nor Bezos, can simply write a check to cover paid sick leave.

But then again, you were fucking CHEERING when my brother's company was the target of your ire because it's an evil corporation and all of the folks making $15/hour were just casualties of your righteous anger at so-called rich people. Now the company will almost certainly close its doors come tomorrow and those people, the ones for whom my brother has worked tirelessly for over a week now in order to make sure that they get paid even if he doesn't, are going to be out of a job, joining the millions of others who are now officially unemployed.

Good fucking job, asshole. You literally hate this country so much that you want the least-wealthy to suffer in order to satisfy your irrational anger at anyone who has more wealth than you do.

    Shithead.

Bezos can't write a check to cover the contract workers that work for his company, but random internet strangers can?

You sir, need help. And quick. You're gonna bust a blood vessel soon.

No, he can't. If he does so, then he faces gigantic tax implications, not to mention that he would then have to self-incorporate and take on all of Amazon's employees as his own, outside of Amazon.

This is why you have no fucking idea what you're talking about. You know literally nothing about running a business. You couldn't run a lemonade stand if your life depended upon it. You have nothing but your hatred to run on here. And, as scott has aptly pointed out, you're talking out of your ass.

Hatred allows one to delegate thought to those who share the hate.

    Don't think.

    Hate.

Mimic those who share your hate.

Most of all close your mind and don't think.

Well, just over an hour ago, my brother got through explaining to all of his employees that the company has no choice now but to close their doors, that he'll do whatever he can to get them their back pay at this point, but it will probably be weeks away.

This is literally your fault, you Goddamned fucking shitbag. It's specifically because of idiotic, hate-filled fuckwagons like you that he did not have an opportunity to try to make his employees whole on time and keep his doors open.

Go fuck yourself with a Goddamned cactus, you fucking gasbag. 127 people lost good-paying jobs today directly because of you and your idiotic Goddamned fucking hatred of corporations. Corporations that fucking PAY PEOPLE TO WORK. But you got what you wanted because you got your Goddamned fucking hategasm on over the terrible orange man, you Goddamned fucking worthless limp dildo.

Fuck you very much, asswipe. I would tell you that you should be ashamed of yourself, except for the fact that you're to Goddamned fucking stupid and hate-filled to have any fucking shame. But you got what you wanted, just like you shouted in glee when a Leftist shot up a baseball field. It doesn't matter to you who you hurt so long as you get your hate on.

    Fucking asshole.

I guess it's not just Republicans who are putting money ahead of safety.

Meanwhile, the right wing has decided to label NIH bigwig Anthony Fauci "a Hillary stooge".

This mindset is spreading, as evidenced by this nitwit's Tweet:

I was going to say that this will be the end of Fauci once this spreads to Fox News, but I'm too late:

I refuse to shop at Amazon before they take just a few days to clean after some of their employees got the virus. I can wait a little bit longer for my crap. Heck, my toilet paper comes in May anyway.

Texas and Florida shouldn't bother with a stay at home earlier if mega churches can still congregate. I get it. It stinks, especially during Lent. But you know what? You can watch your virtual church and several others. You can spend all day in virtual church. Ever thought of visiting a church? Now you can. This might end with a drastic increase in church attendance. But in the meanwhile, Christians are dying so stay home. And no traditional Catholics, now is not the time for communion on the tongue or sharing a cup. Stop being selfish and think about your priest. A lot of them are elderly and 10 of them died in Italy.

"Essential" food places should not have lines going way out the door with no real social distancing. Curbside delivery or accepting whatever meat they do have won't kill most of you.

And yes, this did help the environment. Coronavirus did get my mind off of pieces of Antarctica going into the sea. I hope some permanent solutions will be considered when this is all over now that it shows that less carbon emissions work. That doesn't mean I like that the virus is here. On the contrary, I'm worried about my mom. I'm not thrilled at all that at least two food handlers locally have come down with it. I was not happy at all when my employer advised us that they shut down for at home work because somebody on my floor was in contact with somebody getting tested. None of this is fun for any of us, so if you think we're happy that it took this to make some environmental points, you're out of your mind.

My thoughts on the C word.

What environmental points are you making? That when the world shuts down, we help the environment? At what cost?

We don't need no stinkin' landlords

Some people I know here in Florida are facing being short the rent money, and it's a real problem. Both Portland and Oregon state are engaging rent abatement as policy.

Portland city council asks state, federal officials for rent and mortgage forgiveness
    April 2.
The Portland City Council is calling for more economic relief in the form of rent forgiveness.

City commissioners sent a letter to state and federal officials Wednesday night urging them to forgive all rent and mortgage payments for people who lost income because of the virus. They said without payment forgiveness, tens of thousands of Portlanders who have homes now could be at risk of becoming homeless as a result of the crisis.

"We've never talked about a rent moratorium before or forgiving mortgages. I know it might sound outlandish to some, but I just ask them to consider the alternatives or offer alternatives. You can't squeeze blood from a stone," Commissioner Chloe Eudaly said.

Eudaly said so far, more than 8,000 businesses have applied for Prosper Portland's small business relief fund and the city will only be able to help a fraction of them.

COVID-19: Gov. Kate Brown bans some commercial evictions, no special session on horizon

    April 1.
Gov. Kate Brown placed a 90-day ban on commercial evictions for nonpayment through an executive order Wednesday in the state's latest effort to lessen the economic impact caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The order also prohibits landlords from charging late fees for nonpayment of rent during the moratorium and enhances the governor's previous executive order banning residential evictions.
"During this unprecedented public health crisis, too many Oregonians have found themselves with no way to pay the monthly rent for their homes and businesses," Brown said in a statement. "These are difficult times. This order will help Oregon small businesses stay in their locations without the threat of eviction."
"Executive orders" are powerful things when the wind is at your back.

The governor's press secretary said conversations were still ongoing to determine what actions the governor may need to take, but Wednesday's executive action was issued because rent payments were coming due.

A ban on commercial evictions and augmenting the residential eviction ban was one of the 20 policy recommendations from the Legislature's Joint Coronavirus Response Committee.

Other recommendations included: rental and mortgage assistance; expedited food security benefits; grants and loans for impacted small businesses; and improved health care access.
A year ago Oregon became the first state to have statewide rent control.

Oregon lawmakers pass nation’s first statewide rent control policy

    Feb. 27, 2019.

Such controls always produce shortages and a deterioration in quality. Not in Oregon, though. They're super smart, and the legislation is super complicated.

    Meanwhile,

Landlords alarmed over rent forgiveness proposal
    April 3.
On Wednesday, Portland city leaders sent a letter to the governor asking for statewide rent forgiveness for people who lost incomes because of the pandemic.

“We’ve never talked about a rent moratorium before or forgiving mortgages. I know it might sound outlandish to some, but I just ask them to consider the alternatives or offer alternatives. You can’t squeeze blood from a stone,” Portland City Commissioner Chloe Eudaly told KATU.

Since then, reaction has been swift, claiming if put in place, it would cause long-term damage to basic economic structures.
To summarize the rest, "This time will be different."
    • "The Constitution is not suspended in times of crisis." — AG William Barr.
    • "We hold these truths to be self evident. All men and women created by the, you know, you know, the thing." —Joe Biden, explaining the Creator.
    • "The way I see it, there's always, c'mon, there's always money. It's there." —Elizabeth Warren, explaining socialism.
    • “The interesting thing about the Green New Deal is it wasn’t originally a climate thing at all.... We really think of it as a how-do-you-change-the-entire-economy thing.” —Saikat Chakrabarti, then AOC's Chief of Staff.
    • "We have to stop demonizing people and realize the biggest terror threat in this country is white men, most of them radicalized to the right, and we have to start doing something about them." —CNN's Don Lemon, showing how to stop demonizing people.
