    Tweets for Fun - Other

May we raise children who love the unloved things - the dandelion, the worm, the spiderlings.
Children who sense the rose needs the thorn and run into rainswept days the same way they turn towards the sun...
And when they're grown and someone has to speak for those who have no voice,
may they draw upon that wilder bond, those days of tending tender things and be the one.

When I was a kid, I thought "pygmy elephants" were about the height of a large horse, and I wanted one desperately.

Guess it comes with the job of parent, but I hope I didn't ruin my 5th birthday for Mom and Dad. I jumped out of bed and ran out the back door fully expecting a baby elephant. I couldn't conceal my disappointment. Surely mom explained that the babies need to be with their mothers (little did we know). That may be the year you got to ride an elephant at the circus, so it's your fault.

I drove through there some years ago. It's not quite as desolate as it appears but it's not a fun place.
