    Their cup runneth over

with hatred. My apologies to the 23rd Psalm. And really, it's more like a vinegar and baking soda "volcano" exploding in the media on the heels of the destructive invasion of the Capitol Wednesday. Or maybe it's like a painful boil being lanced. The hatred that was poorly contained has been unleashed. My apologies also to metaphors generally.

    Some examples in headlines:

Pelosi Threatens to Do Something Drastic if Pence Does Not Remove Trump Under 25th Amendment
She and Chuck, as always, are trying to stay ahead of the crowd by going further, faster, into whatever swamp they're led to, prodded by such eminences as AOC:

AOC calls out Dems for caution on Trump impeachment, signaling possible renewed feud with Pelosi

    Some just grab for power:
Capitol Hill riots: DC mayor calls for statehood, wants National Guard power removed from president

Of course, Ms Bowser has a history a slighting the National Guard, including ousting them from hotel accommodations.

Censorship, anyone? Facebook wouldn't allow the President's speech Wednesday to be posted.
Trump returns to Twitter as Facebook's Zuckerberg bans him for 'fanning the flames'

Good luck with that, Mr. President:
Twitter says Trump’s account is locked, and he’s facing a ban

    Publishers:
‘Orwellian’: Hawley Blasts Simon & Schuster For Canceling His Book Deal Following Capitol Riots

    Merchants:
Shopify Pulls Trump Campaign, Trump Organization Online Stores; Claims Trump Condoned ‘Violence’

    Calls for purges:
ABC News: 'Getting Rid of Trump Easy Part'; 'Cleansing' America of 'Movement He Commands' Something Else
In the aftermath of the pro-Trump siege of the U.S. Capitol Building on Wednesday, ABC News Political Director Rick Klein is calling for a “cleansing” of the Trump “movement,” across America.
Think there'll ever be an ideologically balanced newsroom at ABC? Not in his lifetime or yours, I'm afraid.

Right now this is the passion of lynch mobs.
    • "Are you going to be responsible for the rioting if we hear this case?" — Chief Justice Roberts, who apparently had a secret codicil to his oath of office.
    • "Thieves only carry weapons for self-protection and to provide the householder an incentive to cooperate." — Texas State House Rep. Terry Meza, proposing to bar "castle defense" protection for victims of home invasions.
    • "The way I see it, there's always, c'mon, there's always money. It's there." — Elizabeth Warren, explaining socialism.
    • “The interesting thing about the Green New Deal is it wasn’t originally a climate thing at all.... We really think of it as a how-do-you-change-the-entire-economy thing.” — Saikat Chakrabarti, then AOC's Chief of Staff.
    • "We have to stop demonizing people and realize the biggest terror threat in this country is white men, most of them radicalized to the right, and we have to start doing something about them." — CNN's Don Lemon, showing how to stop demonizing people.

Pelosi still trying to stay ahead of the young radicals. I don't know if she noticed that unlike his recent predecessors Trump has launched ZERO military strikes.

Pelosi asks top general about halting Trump military strikes
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Friday she has spoken to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff about preventing President Donald Trump from initiating military actions or a nuclear strike.

Pelosi said in a statement to colleagues that she spoke with Gen. Mark Milley “to discuss available precautions for preventing an unstable president from initiating military hostilities or accessing the launch codes and ordering a nuclear strike.”

She said, the situation of “this unhinged President could not be more dangerous.”
This Express (UK) account has much more of Pelosi's letter quoted and more colorful background, but overall it's almost as unhinged as she is:

WW3: Panic in White House as Democrats try to block Donald Trump's nuclear weapons access
In a letter to House Democrats, Ms Pelosi said: “This morning, I spoke to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley to discuss available precautions for preventing an unstable president from initiating military hostilities or accessing the launch codes and ordering a nuclear strike.

“The situation of this unhinged President could not be more dangerous, and we must do everything that we can to protect the American people from his unbalanced assault on our country and our democracy.”

The letter came just before Ms Pelosi was to join a telephone conference to discuss their options for impeaching the outgoing President.

Earlier this week, violent and deadly riots broke out in Capitol Hill, carried out by Trump supporters.

A total of five people have been killed so far after Mr Trump protested against his election defeat and urged supporters to “fight” to overturn the results.

Ms Pelosi said: “As you know, there is growing momentum around the invocation of the 25th Amendment, which would allow the Vice President and a majority of the Cabinet to remove the President for his incitement of insurrection and the danger he still poses.

“Yesterday, Leader Schumer and I placed a call with Vice President Pence, and we still hope to hear from him as soon as possible with a positive answer as to whether he and the Cabinet will honour their oath to the Constitution and the American people.

“Nearly fifty years ago, after years of enabling their rogue President, Republicans in Congress finally told President Nixon that it was time to go.

“Today, following the President’s dangerous and seditious acts, Republicans in Congress need to follow that example and call on Trump to depart his office – immediately.

“If the President does not leave office imminently and willingly, the Congress will proceed with our action.”

President-elect Joe Biden is set to be inaugurated on January 20, which Mr Trump has already refused to attend.

But fears the Republican could declare war were previously raised following his brutal election defeat.

But I shouldn't laugh, because the Democrats will be assuming power in a dozen days, and we've always seen that what they accuse their opponents of plotting, they themselves are up to. Always. It's often a weak, insecure leader who has to resort to war. I don't know about a senile president; maybe we'll find out.

American citizens. (What, you think the Democrats will shunt any illegal immigrants off to camp, after all the noise they've made for years about cages and detention centers? )

New York Assembly Bill Would Allow State To Detain People If Deemed A Threat To Public Health

The law explicitly and often refers to people or groups, making it clear that the governor could ship a congregation off to camp, or maybe a group of rowdy funeral mourners. I'll call it NY's Uighur Law.

I think inwardly and privately a lot of politicians and media are shitting their collective pants.

It is one thing to whip up a frenzy over dead felons that results in rioting, looting, and burning cities.

It is clearly another to bring the fight to their hallowed doorstep.

Frankly, none of us know where this will be heading in the next few months, but pushing a year of lock downs, virus overload, election propaganda, and a political class that seems more inclined to exacerbate the them vs. us dynamic using every possible wedge, people on both sides are fed up.

Each side thought it had some degree of control over their respective mobs. The other day proved them wrong and they are now trying to spin this as insurrection, an attack on our Republic, whatever they can to keep the focus off of them for creating and feeding this Golem and maintaining their figurative, if not literal, heads.
    We are so fucked.

I think you give them too much credit. After all they have done with the stimulus bill, they STILL have the audacity to "cut in line" to get the covid vaccination first.

And then, with about two weeks left, they are rushing to again impeach Trump.

I doubt they have a single clue as to what the citizens are thinking. And they wouldn't care even if they did.
