There will be time to spend in stores, museums, etc.

I just came back from Richmond, and trust me, it was hot. I did my workout at 6:30a.m....Saturday I was on the Eastern Shore and did my workout at 9:00 p.m...it was only 86 degrees then!

If you're feeling adventurous, skip the tourist-infested deep dish pizza places and go get a slice at Vito & Nick's on South Pulaski. Ain't the greatest part of town but it's a memorable little watering hole with great thin crust pizza. Edit to add: If you go, it's cash only.

When I die, I want to go peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather, and not screaming like the passengers in his car.

Your first stop should probably be at a store where you can pick up some Kevlar.

Yeah...kind of why it's not really been on my list, but then I'm told that there are lots of places that are safe, so not to worry. I think my middle nephew thought the same thing, as his response to my invitation was "no thanks, I'm good!"

We went two summers ago with Mom and Satchel. We stayed across the street from Grant Park and spent most of our time there. I was never worried and it was a great city. I know that's a hyper tourist area but walking the length of the park and roaming the lake was a blast. I love the city. All cities.
"That Fox News panel––the breathtaking dishonesty of it is beyond my ability to articulate. That is no longer a news organization. That is what American state media looks like. That is what White House-controlled in-the-service-of-the-president misinformation looks like. That is indistinct from propaganda in authoritarian countries. It is aimed directly at weakening essential institutions and misinforming the American people. It is appalling.”

I was there once about 15 years ago. I got food poisoning. So I have a negative view of it, but decided I should give it another chance. Honestly, though, I'll probably be there in November for work, so maybe not my best choice, but the niece is tough to please. And she's tough to get time with, so we had about 2 weekends this summer to do something. She likes all cities as well, so I figured what the heck.

She's pressing me on Italy and Ireland.

I drove through Chicago on Friday night. As I entered Indiana I said out loud, "If the Russians ever do bomb us I hope they hit Chicago first just so I can cheer and do a little dance before I am turned into radioactive dust." Fuck that rat's nest.

    Ireland Ireland or U.K. Ireland?

And if she love the City, I like her already.

Well Mr Sunshine, I have a distant family connection to a statue in Grant Park that my mother found and it pleased her a great deal and gave her a thrill of surprise because she wasn't aware it was there.

So Chicago will always rock the mullet for me because it gave my mom joy for a long second and I saw that.
